The 2" ring (with an inside diameter of 1.5") is made of heavy duty plastic while the strap is made of soft leather. The ring fits into the mouth behind the teeth and the strap buckles behind the head. The strap is very adjustable for pulling the ring into the mouth for different comfort levels. Will keep your sub's mouth open for water sports or (almost) any other thing you want to shove down their throat. Looks good as they can't close their mouth no matter how much they want to.

When you say leather coated, does that mean the inside ring is metal?

The strap could have used more holes. Even on the supposed tightest setting, it was easy to just push the ring out of my mouth.

They ain't kidding about this one. Your tongue can flick in and out, but there's no way in hell your mouth is closing and it's impossible to push the gag out. You're stuck.
